One year, 80 reports: BNP Paribas’s data transformation with Jedox

The Information Systems department at BNP Paribas Personal Finance set out to support the transformation of its application portfolio while ensuring precise and structured oversight of development projects.

This initiative needed to address the challenges of managing a heterogeneous IT environment—covering financial management, capacity planning, regulatory compliance, and overall IT asset performance.

One of the main obstacles was the dispersion of key performance indicators (KPIs) across multiple tools. While each tool performed well in its domain, they operated in silos, making it difficult to gain a unified, standardized view—an essential factor for optimizing processes and improving decision-making.

To overcome these challenges, the Information Systems department recognized the need for an innovative solution capable of centralizing, structuring, and standardizing data while accommodating the local and international requirements of BNP Paribas Personal Finance’s various entities.

After a competitive selection process, Jedox emerged as the ideal solution. Its flexibility and seamless compatibility with existing systems convinced BNP Paribas Personal Finance’s project managers. Additionally, Jedox’s reporting capabilities provided a key advantage: reports are clear, easy to read, and highly adaptable—with built-in access management that meets the strict requirements of the financial sector.

The integration of Jedox began in July 2023, with support from experts at Lobellia Conseil. Over six months, the process underwent rigorous validation in areas of:

• Security
• Regulatory compliance
• Technical architecture

This initial phase was crucial to ensuring that the solution met the stringent standards of the banking sector while aligning with the business needs of both local and international teams.

Two strategic business areas were prioritized: IT performance management and IT risk management.

For IT performance, Jedox facilitated the creation of multidimensional data models capable of cross-analyzing information from various reference tools. These models simplified and streamlined KPI tracking—reducing the number of KPIs while improving their relevance. Within a year, nearly 80 key reports were generated, offering a consolidated view of projects, incidents, and IT budgets.

At the same time, risk management was optimized through the centralization of control data. Jedox ensures complete traceability of this information, with a collaborative approach where each stakeholder contributes to enriching and validating the data. This strategy guarantees high reliability and optimal resource utilization for informed decision-making.

By 2025, BNP Paribas Personal Finance plans to roll out Jedox-generated reports across all its international entities, further amplifying their positive impact.

With Jedox, BNP Paribas Personal Finance now benefits from a centralized, standardized IT management data repository that provides a single source of truth (SSOT).

This centralization ensures consistency across analyses, validated by data owners and data stewards, while empowering employees with greater autonomy in analyzing and leveraging data. The data is certified, traceable, and easily accessible—enabling secure and reliable use.

One of the most significant outcomes of this project has been the strengthening of BNP Paribas Personal Finance’s data culture. Teams have embraced a collaborative approach, where data quality and transparency are now strategic priorities. Jedox has facilitated structured discussions on data usage and demonstrated how data-driven decision-making can directly contribute to business objectives while remaining compliant with regulatory requirements.

This digital transformation has had a tangible impact, leading to greater efficiency, improved operational visibility, and reduced redundancy in analyses. Employees now have the independence to leverage data to address their specific needs while contributing to broader strategic goals.

Looking ahead, BNP Paribas Personal Finance plans to expand the use of Jedox to support sustainable IT initiatives, particularly the Positive IT program.

This project sets the stage for a sustainable transformation, centered on collaborative and optimized data utilization, equipping BNP Paribas Personal Finance to navigate the challenges of an ever-evolving banking landscape.
